I am currently attending college for Community Service Worker and am working on a project that is attempting to gain funding for a LGBTQ specific Counselling Centre in the Hamilton, ON region.
As an active Ally to the LGBTQ community, on behalf of myself and my classmates also involved, we want YOUR VOICE heard!
What would you want in a counselling centre?
What kind of things is it most important to YOU to talk about?
Would a safe place to talk to counsellors or other members of the LGBTQ community be helpful?
What can your community do to help you feel heard, healthy, safe and accepted?
What can your allies do for you?
All too often we hear of young people taking their lives or hurting themselves because they feel unheard. Intolerance, ignorance and bullying are too common in our society and can have the potential to hurt more people than anyone will understand.
It’s time to make a difference.
